Professional Interests

This website is intended to provide an online presentation of my educational and professional background, as well as highlighting some of my completed projects. Please feel free to browse the site, and contact me if you have any questions.

I have recently completed a Master of Library and Information Studies program at McGill University, in Montreal. My primary interest is in information architecture and web usability. However, I am also interested in collection management in both academic and public libraries. Previously, I have completed a Bachelor of Arts (Combined Honors) in anthropology and art history at the University of Alberta. I specialized in palaeopathology and Canadian art history.

A Note on the Blog

The blog will be mainly for library related topics. I've been keeping a LiveJournal for a few years now, but that is more for personal entertainment than professional contribution. I originally tried to start a blog a few months ago, but I was having difficulty narrowing down a specific aspect of librarianship. As I have only recently completed my MLIS (and am currently without the focus of a specific library position) there are so many different things I'm interested in! So for the moment, I am going to discuss a variety of things, and then when I eventually get more settled (aka, have a job) I'll narrow it down.

Personal Interests

One of my major interests is horseback riding. I began riding over 16 years ago, and compete in English events including stadium jumping, hunter jumping, dressage, equitation, pleasure, and saddle seat. I also compete in Western events including equitation, pleasure, trail, barrel racing, pole bending, and reining. Admittedly I've not been doing many competitions lately, as I seem to spend all my money on school... (funny how that happens). Someday I'd love to learn how to ride side saddle (as I tried it once and was surprisingly bad at it!), or do mounted archery.

I also enjoy oil painting, photography, scrapbooking, singing, and reading.
